Eric and Janay’s Yellowhead Brewery Wedding was a little different than the norm and in that, was perfectly tailored to how they wanted to celebrate their marriage. These two chose to forgo a wedding party and have a late afternoon ceremony on a Friday in July. Eric got ready at their home in Sherwood Park while Janay spent the morning with her mom, sister, and best friend and finished her bridal preparations at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald.
The calm that Janay and Eric exuded was the perfect testament to how fitting the whole day was to their personalities. Janay wore a stunning lace gown and veil from The Bridal House and Nina shoes, while Eric wore a custom suit in navy blue.
Kathleen Miller officiated a ceremony, in front of Eric and Janay’s closet family and friends, many of whom had flown in from the east coast, that matched the intimacy of the day. Eric and Janay’s vows were filled with laughter and joy, the same the way room was throughout the evening. These two exchanged rings, the first kiss, and walked up the aisle, beaming from ear to ear.
For their formal photographs, we took a walk through the back alley to 104 St. while drops of rain slowly fell on their shoulders. We casually strolled the street, capturing their first moments as husband and wife in front of the neon sign museum and Mercer Tavern.
Back at the Yellowhead Brewery, the beer and laughter were pouring and an amazing family-style spread was served throughout the evening. In hindsight, the whole wedding was family-style, and not just the meal. The feeling in the room felt like the perfect celebration of family in its purest form.
