Your Wedding Day – Four Things You Must Take Time For

Breathing

Your wedding morning arrives and your first thoughts go to all of the things that need to be done. Start right now by taking a few deep breaths, focusing on what is important (hint: the fact that you are getting MARRIED today!), and relaxing. The things that need to get done will get done. Your job is to be present and enjoy the events of the day as they unfold.

Your parents

This is a big day for your parents. As much as you have dreamed about this for years, they have as well. This is a huge, bittersweet milestone for them. Set aside at least a few minutes to be with them. Share how much they mean to you and surprise them with a small gift and handwritten card. Ask your mom to zip up your dress and put your veil in. Plan a first look with your father. Include them as much as possible, especially at the beginning of the day.

Your brand-new spouse

It is one thing to be side-by-side as the day’s events happen. It is a completely different thing to be connected, communicating, and celebrating together. Take a couple of minutes to yourselves. Tour the reception hall together to talk to your guests. Hold hands. Talk. Take a few minutes to step away together. At sunset, escape for half an hour with your photographer for some beautiful sunset photographs. Whisper in each other’s ear as you practice your first dance while the sun disappears over the horizon.

Eating

Your day will be so much more enjoyable if you eat throughout the day. If you wake up with butterflies in your stomach, snack throughout the morning. Delegate someone to pack nutritious snacks in your limousine. Once you depart for the ceremony, the day goes by very quickly. If you need to step aside and grab something to eat, do it. Drink lots of water as well!
