Morgan and Dillon’s wedding took place on a sweltering day in August, in Harmon Valley, Alberta, less than an hour away from the place they first met.
When they met in high school, I’m sure they would have never guessed that six years later, they would be tying the knot. They met in grade nine and began dating a year later. Dillon became friends with one of Morgan’s best friends at the time and they started to spend time together. Shortly after, they became friends and developed feelings for each other and within a year, were dating. Being each other’s first boyfriend and girlfriend, they have helped each other to grow throughout the years and have built a life together based on friendship, love, and support.
The wedding had a beautiful setting at the brand new hall at the Harmon Valley Agricultural Society, about 30 minutes from Peace River, Alberta. The weekend looked like it would be one of the hottest of the summer, with no clouds in sight. On the morning of their wedding, we woke to a welcomed wind bringing relief and smoke from the BC wildfires, cooling the air just enough to make it comfortable.
Inside of the cool respite of the hall, the bridal preparations were well underway. Jennifer was working her magic with curling irons and straight irons while Mechelle with Mechee Aesthetics was finishing the look with beautiful makeup. As guests were arriving, the ladies were relaxing and enjoying the last few minutes of calm. Across the parking lot, Dillon and his groomsmen were putting on their suits and ties and preparing to support Dillon as he said his vows.
The ceremony was held under a hand-built arch, decorated with florals from Anna Bowman, at the front of the light-filled hall. Morgan and Dillon said I do, as their parents, siblings, family, and friends looked on and they celebrated them as they walked hand in hand back up the aisle as husband and wife.
The light of Morgan and Dillon’s life, their Pug Herbie, joined in for formal photographs across the road from the hall and was the star of the show.
As the reception began, a delicious spread of food was served and DJ Kent Schumaker got the party started after beautiful speeches from family and friends.
